South Coast Water Crisis

In November 2015, on the South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, the main reservoir in Port Shepstone ran dry, resulting in the municipality pumping water from the uMzimkhulu River. Unfortunately saline water from the estuary was flowing into the river, so residents on the South Coast had undrinkable, salty water coming out of their taps.

Our MD, Rob Hoatson read about their plight on the news and we decided to donate a truck containing over 36, 000 litres of water to people in the town to make sure that drinking water was available.
Over 7000 bottles were handed out within in 2 hours to the public at Shelley Centre.
